Arnolds Home Improvement to Provide Free Roof Repairs for Toledo Veteran

Local Army Veteran Claude Smith entered Arnold’s Home Improvement’s Veterans Roof Project contest and was chosen as one of the lucky winners! This year due to the overwhelming response to our Veterans Roof Project, Jason decided to help several different veterans with repairs to their roofs and urgent repairs needed to their homes at no charge to them.

Mr. Smith served in the Army from 1970 to 1974 in the 82^nd Airborne division stationed at Fort Bragg. He worked in specialty finance. During that time the division headquarters was bombed, and all their military records were destroyed. Mr. Smith worked fervently to restore the lost records to ensure everyone was properly taken care of. Upon leaving the Army, Mr. Smith went to Wayne State for Art & Design. He spent the next 40 plus years as an artist as well as a carpenter, working in the home remodeling industry all while raising two sons as a single parent. Mr. Smith and his wife have lived in their home for the past 11 years. She has Alzheimer’s and Mr. Smith is her primary caregiver.

Arnold’s Home Improvement is genuinely proud to give back to Mr. Smith and his family through our Veterans Roof Project. The sacrifices our veterans have made for our freedoms are beyond what most of us can imagine. Being able to give back to our veterans in our community is another way we are all saying thank you.

We will begin the repairs on 828 Independence Road at 10:00 a.m. on Veterans Day, Sunday November 11, 2018
