13abc’s Hope for the Holidays program was operated again this year in cooperation with the Salvation Army and U.S. Marine Corps Reserves (Tots for Tots).
The campaign continued through December 15 with toy distribution taking place prior to Christmas. The Salvation Army conducted an earlier application process for those families who need assistance and more than 1,300 families applied.
13abc partners include Arnold’s Home Improvement, Vito’s Pizza, Dave White Chevrolet and Acura and Jim White Toyota and Gallon, Takacs, Boissoneault & Schaffer again this year.
The annual “drive through bash” happened on Friday, December 8 all day (5am-6: 30 pm) at the four area locations. Volunteers accepted new toys at 13abc studios at 4247 Dorr Street. There was food and free entertainment for those driving through to drop off toys.
More than 113,000 toys have been donated to local children since it began in 2011. The campaign benefits the Salvation Army and U.S. Marine Corps Reserves "Toys for Tots" program. The Salvation Army is the coordinating agency for distribution of toys to area children. Last year, more than 25,000 toys were collected.
